How a doctor buried a married woman inside Kwara General Hospital

Kwara detectives found the corpse of a woman buried in the office of Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital, Dr. Abbass Adeyemi.

The body of the woman simply identified as Nofisat Halidu was found in a shallow hospital grave in the presence of her husband, police said.

Adeyemi, who is currently in custody, had been linked to different murder cases.

Last month, the Edo State Police Command arrested Adeyemi for the murder of Emmanuel Yobo Agbovinuere, a taxi driver.

The suspect, from Offa LGA of Kwara State, allegedly killed the victim on September 3 in Benin City and dumped his body in the community of Otofure on the Benin-Lagos highway.

The doctor, who graduated from the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) in 2013, is said to have met the late Agbovinuere (taxi driver) in July 2022 in a hotel and hired his services.

However, Paul Odama, the new Kwara Police Commissioner, had ordered a new investigation into the Halidu case.

According to Kwara Police Public Relations Officer Ajayi Okansami, it was during the investigation that the cases were unraveled.

“The Kwara State Police Command would like to inform the public of the outcome of an investigation ordered by CP Paul Odama psc (+) the new Kwara State Police Commissioner. During his assumption of duty, as Kwara State Police Commissioner, while going through some petitions written by some citizens, a particular case struck the PC regarding the reported case of a missing woman by the name of Nofisat Halidu ‘F’ in Kaiama, Kaiama Local Government Area of ​​Kwara State on 21/11/2021.

“The PC immediately ordered the establishment of a high-level investigative team led by the State CID Deputy Commissioner of Police, to unravel the mystery surrounding the kidnapping case and other unresolved cases before taking office.

“Based on the order of the CP, the investigation of the cases began yesterday 30/9/2022. Working on a lead provided by the arrest and confession of a Dr Adio Adeyemi Adebowale ‘M’ in the ‘Edo State confirming that he killed an Ifeoluwa ‘F’ his girlfriend who was reported missing in Tanke area in Ilorin sometime in 2021 and her corpse later discovered in a bush in Alapa area in Ilorin where he threw it.

“Incidentally, the said doctor was the chief medical director of Kaiama General Hospital, the investigation led the team to Kaiama General Hospital where the suspect’s office was forced open, a peek quick at the office presented a suspicious sight of a freshly cemented tiled floor, curiously the tiles were broken and a bloody sight greeted detectives, behold, lying inside the shallow grave was a decomposing carcass of a woman not identified.

“Further search of the office led to the opening of a bin where another body of a lady later identified as the previously reported missing Nofisat Halidu ‘f’ identified by the husband, a certain Mr Halidu and d other members of the community who were present at the scene at the time of the search.

“Other items recovered from the detained doctor’s office include two telephone handsets found in the handbag of one of the ladies found in the doctor’s drawer. Two women’s handbags, a women’s wig, a veil and trousers feminine.
