NIPSS alumni hold high-level national unity conference

1 National School Alumni Association Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (AANI)should organize a high-level conference to discuss Nigerianational unity.

2 The National Publicity Secretary, AANI, retired brigadier-general. Dani Usman, said in a statement Wednesday in Abuja.

3 Usman said the association is concerned about divisive tendencies in the country, hence the need for the conference.

4 He said the conference themed “Nigeria National Unity in the Preparation for the 2023 General Elections” will be held on September 20.
Usman said the institute has remained since its inception in 1979 a reservoir and public policy think tank in Nigeria.

5 “As one of the key stakeholders in the Nigerian state, we are deeply concerned about the growing insecurity, violent extremism and ethno-religious crisis in the country, particularly in the run up to the general elections in Nigeria. 2023.

6 “This underscores the need to interrogate the circumstances that have led to the current national challenges and come up with appropriate recommendations and implementation strategies,” he said.

seven The AANI spokesperson said the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will chair the conference while retired General Martin-Luther Agwai will be the keynote speaker.

8 Agwai was a former chief of defense staff and former special adviser to the UN secretary general on peacekeeping.

9 Also, the Sultan of SokotoMuhammad Sa’ad-Abubakar IIIwho is also chairman of the AANI Heritage Council, will be the royal father of the day, while CTF The Minister, Malam Mohammed Bello, will be the main host.
Other prominent Nigerians expected to attend the conference include the Governor. Babagana Zullum of bornothat of JigawaBadaru Abubakar and other governors across the country.
