Ogun Police Arrest 3 Eiye Brotherhood Leaders

Officers from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three leading members of the dreaded Eiye Brotherhood who allegedly terrorized Ijebu-Ode and surrounding areas.

The suspects, Odukoya Odushina, Subomi Popoola and Itunuoluwa Taiwo were arrested after police at Obalende Division Headquarters in Ijebu Ode received reports that the cultists were seen holding a night meeting in a black dot known as Sanga at the back of the central mosque, with the view to strike terror on the members of the community.

Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects in Abeokuta, said the thugs attacked the officers with dangerous weapons when they had seen.

Mr Oyeyemi said one of the suspects had been arrested once and brought to trial, but was released on bail.

He listed items recovered from the suspects, including jewelry, phones and suspected hard drugs.

In the meantime, the police commissioner, Mr. Lanre Bankole, has ordered a thorough investigation into their activities.

Mr Bankole also ordered a massive manhunt against other members of the group with a view to bringing them to justice as soon as possible.
