Police summon Lagos cops for shooting biker for bribe
The Lagos State Police Command reacted to a viral video showing a policeman opening fire on a motorcyclist in the Somolu area of the state.
The policeman, who was with some of his colleagues, allegedly demanded a bribe from the biker.
Angered that his request was rejected by the okada biker who fled, the policeman shot at the tires of the motorcycle.
Reacting to the video, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, tweeted that he had informed Lagos Police Command Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin about the video.
“Sent to PPRO Lag. He’ll take it please” Adejobi tweeted.
Meanwhile, Hundeyin tweeted that the officers in the video had been identified and promised to provide an update on the case.
“These officers have been identified. Rest assured that updates on the progress of their case will be provided,” he tweeted.
Hundein when contacted by PUNCH Metro Sunday, said the officers would be transferred to command headquarters on Monday (today).
“I called their DPD and he admitted they were his officers. So I told him he had to bring them to headquarters on Monday morning,” he said.
