Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will launch a 100-day “Padhe Bharat” reading campaign on Saturday to improve students’ learning levels, officials said.

The campaign marks an important step in improving students’ learning levels as it develops creativity, critical thinking, vocabulary and the ability to express oneself both verbally and in writing. It helps children relate to their surroundings and to the real-life situation, they said.

“Children who study at Balvatika up to grade 8 will be part of this campaign. The reading campaign will run for 100 days (14 weeks) from January 1 to April 10, 2022. The reading campaign aims to have the participation of all stakeholders at national and state level, including children, teachers, parents, community, education administrators, etc. ”said a senior ministry official. Education.

“The 100-day campaign will run for 14 weeks and one activity per week per group has been designed to make reading enjoyable and create a lifelong association with the joy of reading. A comprehensive campaign guideline reading with an age-appropriate weekly schedule of activities has been prepared and shared with the States and Union Territories, ”he added.

The manager explained that the activities can be done by children with the help of teachers, parents, peers, siblings or other family members.

“In order to make the campaign effective, the activities designed were simple and enjoyable so that they could also be easily carried out with the materials and resources available at home and with the help of parents, peers and siblings. , in case the schools are closed, ”he said. PTI
