Purdue student PR firm named best in the country
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Boiler Communication, the 100% student-run public relations agency on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, was recently recognized as the nation’s top student-run company.
The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) recently awarded Boiler Communication the Dr. FH Teahan National Chapter Firm of the Year Award for corporate performance and the accomplishments of its student staff on campus.
“As a former Boiler Communication student,” said Jacqueline Logan, one of the firm’s former directors and current head of professional public relations. “There’s this camaraderie (in Boiler Communication) that I can’t really explain.”
According to the firm’s website, “Our mission is to provide high quality results for our clients and an immersive learning experience for our students … our agency has continued to learn from alumni in the field and seek out opportunities. innovative industry practices to perfect our work and grow into a professional level, fully functional agency. “
Boiler Communication is made up of a full-time staff member, Christi Eden, the firm’s educational advisor, as well as 63 student-staff who work towards earning university credits and gaining experience. concrete in the field of public relations.
“We worked with Wildcat Creek Winery,” Eden said of an example of real-world experience students get at Boiler Communication. “We were able to recreate their entire website for them, update their entire branding and reduce their key messages. We saw about a 53% increase in the number of unique visits for them to their website. “
Each year, the PRSSA chooses one student firm out of more than 100 to reward the firm Dr. FH Teahan National Chapter. This award is a career ambition for many student-run companies.
“I wanted to create something that helps engage students,” Eden said. “and making sure that they could learn in a safe environment that would make them the best practitioners possible. I also wanted to help my community. This is kind of the culmination of it all. It was one. of my best career goals. “
Boiler Communications has proven to be more than useful in the post-graduate world for many of its alumni.

Boiler Communication will host an honorary ceremony in recognition of the Dr. FH Teahan National Chapter Firm Award from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm on November 10th. Purdue Marshal Jay Akridge’s speech will be delivered at 5 p.m. as the cabinet presents the award. The Honorary Ceremony will take place in the Prusiecki / Rudolph Banquet Hall of the Dauch Alumni Center.
