Eastern Students Receive Bartholomew County Scholarships for Youth Leadership
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Two Columbus East students receive a $ 2,500 scholarship from Youth Leadership Bartholomew County. Jenna Hudson and Dathan Wolf are the big winners this year.
The YLBC scholarships were announced at a leadership training conference on September 20. According to committee member Todd Voelz, these scholarships are based on work done by students prior to the event, including resumes and essays, as well as attending professional interviews.
The best two scholarships are awarded based on the overall scores of the three components.
A biography provided by YLBC describes Jenna as “upbeat and reliable.” She has a GPA of 4.1 and was on the Honor Roll for all four years of high school.
His extracurricular activities include the National Honor Society, The Key Club, the Student Council, attending the student assembly, pet sitting services, working at Columbus Regional Health in the food service, and volunteering as a as a scorer for the Eastern University boys’ volleyball team.
Her future career plans are to become a “creative director or graphic designer in the fashion industry”.
Dathan, a football player and swimmer in East, is described as experienced in working with others and “suited to balancing academic and athletic responsibilities”.
He is also a swimming instructor, referee of soccer and is involved in 4-H.
Additionally, Dathan has volunteered at the Arc of Bartholomew County and has also mentored children with special needs.
His future plans include obtaining a degree in physics and work in aeronautics or aerospace.
