Kindergarten to Grade 12 education support workers urge community to help fill Kootenay food bank school buses

Canadian Union of Public Employees:

CUPE Local 1285 Education Support Workers, Kindergarten to Grade 12, collect donations for local food banks as part of the Help Fill the Bus Food Drive.

This event is organized by CUPE 1285 which supports students and schools in Trail, Castlegar, Rossland and Fruitvale. All community members, including other unions and groups, are encouraged to support local food banks and families in need by coming with their donation.

Saturday April 10, 2021; 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

No Frills parkings at CASTLEGAR (1502 Columbia Avenue) and TRAIL (8100 Rock Island Highway, 3B, Waneta Plaza)

Look for the big yellow school district 20 bus.

CUPE 1285 members have seen a greater need for support in the community and recognize the difficult times everyone is going through because of the pandemic. The idea of the FILL THE BUS food drive was born out of the desire to help. Rural communities have limited resources and shelter; food bank supplies are rapidly running out. CUPE 1285 hopes that this food drive will fill the shelves of food banks and local organizations that provide meals to people in need, to help families in the region.
